Free Tutoring!

Fort Collins, CO

Pathway Tutoring: El Camino a Exito: is a tutoring initiative designed to offer free educational support to Hispanic or bilingual students. It focuses on providing personalized tutoring sessions delivered by high-achieving high school students. The program's primary goal is to bridge academic gaps by addressing language barriers, financial constraints, and overly structured tutoring setups commonly faced by Hispanic families. It emphasizes flexibility in scheduling tutoring sessions at convenient locations like libraries, aiming to create a conducive learning environment. Additionally, it seeks to engage and support parents while catering to the specific academic needs of each student. Overall, the program aims to empower students by leveraging their bilingualism and cultural backgrounds as strengths to enhance their academic success

Our Mission

Unfortunately, many of the students who struggle the most in school are Hispanic students. This is a very big problem because we know that any student can be successful in school and because we believe that having Hispanic origins is not a weakness, but rather a strength. As high school students preparing to go to college, we know the benefit of being bilingual and multicultural as we have seen how this unique aspect makes us more desirable and unique applicants. That's why Pathway Tutoring was created; Our mission is to help Hispanic and/or bilingual students and families with personalized tutoring sessions.

We believe that what most prevents families from getting academic help for their children are the following reasons: The language barrier, the cultural barrier, the cost, and the fact that tutoring services can be too structured and rigid. For that reason, Pathway offers a solution for each of these problems: First, we are completely free! No one should be prevented from seeking academic help for their children because of cost. Second, we are in direct contact with parents and are constantly in contact in Spanish to be able to organize sessions dynamically and flexibly. Additionally, we like to be able to talk to them to be able to communicate any observations or details that we have noticed during the tutoring sessions. Finally, we understand very well that families have many commitments and that it can be very difficult to drive to tutoring sessions, and that sometimes it is necessary to cancel; For that reason we have tutoring sessions at whichever library is closest to them and also on the day and date that works best for them. We also have no problem with late cancellations!

One of the most special things about how this program works is that the tutors are young students with high academic performance. We have observed that this simple dynamic allows children to have role models that motivate them to do better in school. We can essentially play the role of an older sibling; We found that they are more likely to listen to us on issues like turning in homework on time, something parents might be struggling with. This is because these students are more likely to listen someone outside their inner circle who also shares a lot with them in common. Our long-term goal is to be able to help as many students as possible so that this program can continue to exist after we leave them for college!"
